What Crash Guide is
Crash Guide is an information, triage and service-discovery platform for people who have had a motor vehicle accident in Australia. It helps you organise what happened and understand the steps generally available to you.
What Crash Guide is not
- It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal services
- It is not an insurer, an insurance broker, or a provider of insurance advice
- It is not a credit provider and does not provide credit or financial product advice
- It is not a medical service and does not diagnose or treat injuries
- It is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000)
- It does not determine who was legally at fault for an accident
General information only
Everything on Crash Guide is general information. It does not take account of your particular circumstances, your policy wording, or the specific facts of your accident. You should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified professional before acting on anything you read here.
Rules differ between states and territories and change over time. We cite primary government and regulator sources and show when each page was last reviewed, but you should check the current position with the relevant authority for anything that affects a claim.
Your accident record
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, and for only providing information about other people that it is reasonable for you to hold and share in connection with your accident.
Your accident page is reached through a private link. Keep it private — anyone who has that link can see the record. Tell us promptly if you believe your link has been shared with someone it should not have been.
Service providers
Where you ask Crash Guide to connect you with a service provider, that provider is an independent business. Crash Guide does not provide the service, does not supervise it, and is not a party to any agreement you enter into with that provider. Read what you sign.
Crash Guide is paid by the businesses listed on it. In almost every category that is a fixed monthly advertising fee: the business pays the same amount whether you contact them or not, and we are paid the same whether you do or not.
Car finance is the exception. If you take out a loan through a finance listing on Crash Guide, we receive a share of the referral fee the broker earns. It does not change what you are charged, it does not change which lenders you are shown, and we are not the lender, the broker or a credit adviser — but we are paid, so you should know.
We do not charge any business per enquiry, per lead or per claim, and we do not accept payment to rank one provider above another.
Acceptable use
- Do not use Crash Guide to submit information you know to be false
- Do not upload material you do not have the right to upload
- Do not attempt to access an accident record that is not yours
- Do not attempt to disrupt, probe or overload the service
- Do not use automated means to extract content from the site
Availability
Crash Guide is provided as it stands, and may be unavailable from time to time. Never rely on it in an emergency — call Triple Zero (000).
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that applies under the Australian Consumer Law and cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, Crash Guide is not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on general information provided through the platform, or from any dealings you have with a third-party service provider.
Changes
These terms will be updated as Crash Guide develops, and will be reviewed by Australian legal counsel before public launch.
